About MeI live in Jackson Hole, Wyoming where I explore the deeper reaches of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem while also trying to raise awareness about light pollution and the importance of dark skies through photography and video.

A herd of bison grazes on a ridge beneath The Sleeping Indian in Grand Teton National Park.
Bison are back out on the move and I found a big herd of them on my way back from Grand Teton National Park the other night perfectly posed on a ridge as the last light of day was hitting Sheep Mountain, aka The Sleeping Indian.
Bison rest lined up in the snow near the Tower Junction in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming.
This past weekend I discovered just how hard photographing bison in snow when the sun in shining really can be. It’s a delicate balance of not underexposing to compensate for the bright snow, while also making sure not to overexpose to bring out the detail in their dark fur. Many came out ok though, such as this one of a row of sleeping bison.
